He's tasted glory at Wimbledon for seven times equaling the world record of William Renshaw, the U.S. Open five times and a two time Australian Open Champion; he's never won the French Open. It was in the second half of the 1990's when Sampras emerged as a real king of men's tennis.

At a very young age, Sampras showed the signs of an outstanding athlete.Sampras turned pro in tennis in 1988, at the age of 16. His first Grand Slam singles title came in February 1990, at Philadelphia. In that year, he captured his first Grand Slam title at the US Open. He defeated a legend John McEnroe in the semifinal to set up a final with another countrymen Andre Agassi. Sampras beat Agassi convincingly to become the youngest-ever US Open male singles champion at a mere age of 19 years and 28 days.And that day marked the beginning of one of the greatest rivalry in tennis in the 1990s with Sampras winning twenty of the thirty four matches played between them.
