The Famous Rivalry

For years now, the tennis world has seen many great rivalries and one among the top most rated was between the two countrymen-Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi...the rivalry that dominated the tennis arenas for nearly a decade in the 1990's...the rivalry often brought out the best game from both the players'.The 1990 US Open was their first meeting in a Grand Slam final which Sampras won convincingly...This famous rivalry reached its peak in 1995. The two players shared the ATP Tour number one ranking several times in that calender year and were willing to participate in the Davis Cup only if the other played. This is to avoid any sort of advantage as one played while the other rested, then the other would have a competitive advantage over in the weeks leading to the year's Second Grand Slam event the French Open. It was the US Open final in 1995 between them, a defeat that Agassi and forced him to change his serve. This pair of American greats produced some of the most incredible matches. The highest-rated match of their rivalry was the final of the 1999 Wimbledon. The 2002 US Open final between the two is 2 highest rated match. This is tennis at its best ever...a rivalry that goes back in the history as the best ever...

The King Of Swing-Pete Sampras

Pete Sampras born on 12th August 1971 in Washington,D.C. is truly one of the greatest tennis players...Nicknamed "Pistol Pete"because of his fast serve. He was a true champion the game has ever produced..During his 15yrs career,he won 14 Grand Slam men's singles title..he spent 286weeks(nearly 6years)in the 1990's as the number one ranked player,a record in the open era...During his career he won a whopping total of 64 singles titles, with 14 Grand Slam titles. He's tasted glory at Wimbledon for seven times equaling the world record of William Renshaw, the U.S. Open five times and a two time Australian Open Champion; he's never won the French Open. It was in the second half of the 1990's when Sampras emerged as a real king of men's tennis.

At a very young age, Sampras showed the signs of an outstanding athlete.Sampras turned pro in tennis in 1988, at the age of 16. His first Grand Slam singles title came in February 1990, at Philadelphia. In that year, he captured his first Grand Slam title at the US Open. He defeated a legend John McEnroe in the semifinal to set up a final with another countrymen Andre Agassi. Sampras beat Agassi convincingly to become the youngest-ever US Open male singles champion at a mere age of 19 years and 28 days. And that day marked the beginning of one of the greatest rivalry in tennis in the 1990s with Sampras winning twenty of the thirty four matches played between them.
